Why is Angelo Corradino Running for Mayor Again?

Some people may wonder why, after serving as Mayor for 16 years, as Councilman for 3 years, and being out of office for the last 4 years, I would even consider running again at this time. My answer is simple - I love Manville and the people who make up the Borough. I believe I am the most qualified individual to help RESTORE THE PRIDE in Manville.

Over my 16 years as Mayor I had a proven record of accomplishments: Redevelopment of the former Johns Manville site into the Marketplace at Manville; construction of a state of the art Police Headquarters; a modern Municipal Building and Court Facility; a new Public Works Facility; initiating shared services and Manville’s recognition as a leading community in that effort; maintaining a stabilized tax base; and the list goes on.

It is now time to get the redevelopment of the Rustic Mall completed, with or without the cooperation of the owners of that property. It is time to roll up our sleeves, get back to work, and start moving Manville forward.

My opponent has sat dormant on the Borough Council over the last four years and I don’t believe she has what it takes to show the leadership skills to get Manville back on track. A vote for me and my running mates, Ed Komoroski and Lou Fischer is a vote for Manville’s future. Together we will work for all Manville residents, not for a select few and their agenda.

FLOOD INFORMATION FEMA Disaster Recovery Centerto Open Friday in Somerville SOMERVILLE – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center here starting 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9. The office, located in the first-floor conference room at Somerset County’s human services building at 27 Warren Street, will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice to assist residents impacted by Hurricane Irene. “We appreciate FEMA’s quick response to the flooding that has caused widespread damage and displacement here in Somerset County,” said Freeholder Director Robert Zaborowski. The Disaster Recovery Center will have information on small-business loans, home loans, housing assistance, hazard mitigation, tax matters, crisis counseling and other storm-related issues. To apply online for FEMA assistance go to www.disasterassistance.gov To apply by phone or check your status, call toll-free 1-800-621-3362. The county’s human services programs also are available to assist county residents. The Office on Aging & Disability Services, Veterans Services, Youth Services, Community Development and Volunteer Services are located at 27 Warren St. Hours for these offices are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. ACCOMPLISMENTS AS MAYOR

Instrumental in working with the Adesa Corporation to redevelop the former contaminated property owned by the Johns Manville Corporation.

Negotiated with Adesa Auto Auctions to subdivide the property to construct the Marketplace at Manville, bringing with it Wal-Mart, Reading Cinema, and Super A&P with a discussion if A&P should close, we would welcome a Super Wal-Mart, along with additional fine shops and restaurants for our residents to enjoy.

Negotiated with Adesa to build a new Police Station and at the same time purchased a former bank building, converting it into a new Municipal Building and Court House at minimum cost to the taxpayers.

Received Federal and State Grants to build a new Public Works Building after Hurricane Floyd destroyed the former building.

Successfully lobbied for aid from both the Federal and State governments to help Manville residents affected by the flooding from Hurricane Floyd.

Spearheaded the Shared Services Program making Manville the forerunner in shared service agreements, and saving millions to taxpayers according to a study by the Somerset County Business Partnership.

Worked closely with EPA and DEP to obtain the necessary funding to clean up the Claremont section and the Rustic Mall area from Creosote Contamination left by American Creosote in the late 1920s.

Instituted Community Day and the Street Fair.

Secured grants from Federal and State agencies in order to maintain needed Road Improvement Program for Manville.
